Error $1.00 1921-S Morgan Dollar Grease Filled Dies - Raw AU / BU
Here is a really neat Morgan Dollar error. Dated 1921-S, there are enough examples out there of grease-filled-dies, but this coin is quite special. Both of the dies were covered in copious amounts of grease before striking this coin. I haven't seen another like it.
Some might suspect this coin is a die trial, but it is not. I liberated the coin from an old ANACS holder to determine that conclusively, and there is sufficient depth of reeding to rule that out.
Despite lacking in detail, the mint luster is intact throughout the surfaces of this unusual coin, and I do not hesitate to grade it AU58 at the very least.
